Hi,

In most web based forums that I visit, certainly ones that are programmed in PHP, when you brows the topics, you can usually see who has posted the last topic to a given topic. Could something like this be implemented here? To see who posted the last topic and when?

Thanks

well you can see the date that the last post was made to a topic, i gues if you wanna see who the last person was who posted to it the way to do that would be to click on it and look, *grins*

after all either the topic interests you or it doesn't. i can't see that being able to see who the last poster was would make a huge amount of difference. as claire says. if you want to know! look! lol

Oh I think it is, most web based forums have that setting, actually this is the only forum I frequent that doesn't.

but just because these forums don't have that feature, what does it matter, as dan said, if you're interested in the topic, then read the topic. i don't look at topics purely because who has posted to them, after all, not all of what everyone posts interest me...

I can't thik of anythign that'd be more annoying. It'd jsut take up unnecessary space on the page. Agree with Dan and Claire. Sometimes I'll go to my friends's profiles and see what the last topic was that they posted in, an then I may go an look at that coz they're my mates, but that's not the same thing.

I think they might have done that on purpous so you have no choice but to read the topic.

I believe I understand what Lord Voldemont is asking is for a page that lists all topics say within the last 24 hours and the latest Post to each one (at least that is how another set of Boards handles this type of situation) The good thing is that a quick overview can be had without going to each topic and going through all the listings of Posts. A quick review and if one logs in frequently enough then pretty much are enabled to know of almost all Postings. Connie

after all who wants to see a topic after a week? well yes that's another point to add there. because the latest topics isn't sorted right I don't think.

Post 12 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Tuesday, 02-Aug-2005 9:47:22

the "latest topics" is sorted according to when the actual topic was posted, the "topics with new posts" is sorted according to when the last post was made to that topic.

well,i only ever go to the topics with new posts link, an to be fair, if you're going to be logging in that much, you'll get kinda used to that page, so you'll know what's new and what's not

Post 14 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 02-Aug-2005 10:33:03

i am the same. i only ever look at the topics with new posts. mind you, i could see one possible benefit from having things as darren suggests. i'd know when cg has posted and not to bother reading! connie have you never heard of punctuation and proof reading? your posts would improve greatly with even one of those 2 things applied!

Well hi all! The topic latest should be of good use. So if you want to read I would say you can go to the latest post page. And yes, thinking very much of setting my home page to that!!:)
